The Hero That No Longer Exists!

Superboy was created in the early 1940's by Superman's original creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, to be the Man of Steel when he was a boy.

Superboy first appeared in MORE FUN COMICS #101, Jan-Feb, 1945, in a story by Siegel and Shuster.

Proving to be a popular incarnation of Kal-El, Superboy next began appearing in ADVENTURE COMICS with issue #103, April, 1946.  Superboy would star in this title for the next 23 years.  The "Tales of the Legion of Super-Heroes" began in issue 300 and ran until #380, with Supergirl taking over the title in #381.

Superboy's own eponymous title began in 1949 with the March/April issue.  The Legion began appearing in Superboy in the early 1970's.  Superboy's last solo story in his own title was in SUPERBOY #196, when the Legion began co-headlining the book.

It was through Superboy's own comic that DC launched the Legion of Super-Heroes.

The Legion took over the title with issue #259.  Superboy then returned to ADVENTURE COMICS, and later to a second series.

There was even a thrid Superboy series based upon the syndicated TV series from the 1980's.

However, in 1986, DC destroyed its nearly 50-years of comic-book history, wiping many characters-- including Superboy, his faithful dog Krypto, and Supergirl-- completely out of existence.

Truly, comics are the poorer for it.
